Boiler malfunction caused fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield firefighters quickly put out a cellar fire in the Forest Park neighborhood at around 12:30 P.M.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that a boiler malfunctioned at 24-26 Longhill Street. The three-family house has a variety store in the front.

The Springfield Health Department will check on the store in the aftermath of the fire.
