NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The driver accused of causing a crash in South Hadley that killed a 29 year-old Westfield resident this past spring, has been indicted by a Hampshire Superior Court jury.
Mary Carey of the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office told 22News that Ryan Brunelle of South Hadley faces a single count of motor vehicle homicide in connection to the May 22 crash that killed Thomas P. Flanagan.
The crash took place at around 7:00 that night near 124 College Street (Route 116). Carey says that an investigation revealed that Brunelle’s car crossed the center line and struck Flanagan’s vehicle, which had been traveling in the opposite direction. Flanagan was taken to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance, where he died.
Brunelle was also taken to the hospital following the crash, but survived his injuries.
