CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Some Western Massachusetts high school students are going to hear the message “The Army National Guard wants you.”
During a seminar at Westover Air Reserve Base on Wednesday, educators and employees were told that teenage National Guardsmen rate higher in discipline and maturity than their peers.
Massachusetts Army National Guard Captain Mustafa Thompson spoke of a 17-year-old Guardsman. “He was in charge of 30 adults, so they get more responsibility thrown at them,” Thompson explained. “They learn to handle it compared with their peers.”
There are currently 200 high school men and women who are members of the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
