LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters were called to 156 Kendall Street in Ludlow, Tuesday night, to control the flames at a barn-style garage.

Ludlow Fire Captain Ricky Machado told 22News the fire was located at a two story barn-style garage on Kendall Street. He said the garage collapsed in the fire.

Firefighters were able to control the flames Tuesday night, but stayed in the area late to cool down a few areas and make sure the fire didn’t reignite, Capt. Machado said.

When 22News arrived to Kendall Street before 7:00 p.m., there were huge flames coming from the garage and firefighters surrounded the area, working to put out the fire.

Capt. Machado said the detached garage is about 12 feet away from the house, so only the porch was slightly damaged. He said the fire did not spread to main part of the house and the homeowners were okay to stay in the home Tuesday night.

No injuries were reported. Kendall Street was closed while firefighters cleared the area, but has since been reopened.

No word yet on what caused the fire.
