NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Main Street in Northampton was shut down and packed with people Friday night for a Holiday Stroll event. It was put on by the Downtown Northampton Association, and featured a DJ and pop up shops.
Hundreds of people packed the street for the event, meant to celebrate the holiday season with dancing, puppets, food and more. The three hour event did cause some backup around Northampton on Friday, but attendees told 22News they hope the Holiday Stroll can become an annual event.
Tamara Kupfer of Northampton said, “It’s great, I totally hope they do it again. A lot of traffic getting in, and parking was a bit of a problem, but otherwise, it’s fun. It’s a great way to start the holiday season.”
Visitors to the Holiday Stroll said the event was good for business, with shops getting heavy foot traffic with Main Street closed.
