Springfield’s Bright Nights salutes military & first responders

Springfield Mayor & Police Commissioner greeted visiters

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Active military, law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel all received free admission Wednesday night at Bright Nights in Springfield. Cars packed into Forest Park for a chance to see the more than 650,000 holiday lights.

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, Police Commissioner John Barbieri, and the 104th Fighter Wing Commander Colonel James Keefe, greeted and saluted servicemen and women, as they entered Forest Park.

“For us, a community to reach out to them and thank them for what they do, and it makes it easier for them to serve,” said Colonel Keefe.

In addition to free admission, children were allowed one free ticket for either a Santa train, a carousel ride, or admission to the giant snow globe in Santa Magical Forest. The event was sponsored by the Columbia Gas Company.
