Light snow ending; roads wet for Wednesday commute

The wintry mix will dry up early Wednesday

(WWLP) – Snow began falling overnight in many parts of western Massachusetts, leaving the roads wet Wednesday morning.

The snow, mixed with some rain, is fading away as the rush of the morning commute begins, but any untreated roads could still be slippery. MassDOT reduced the speed limit on the Mass Pike Wednesday morning to 40 miles per hour as a precaution. The speed limit is now back to normal.

The most snow fell in parts of the Berkshires and hills west of the Connecticut River, where residents received close to an inch of snow overnight. Snow in the lower Pioneer Valley was less significant, with more patchy coatings of snow on the grass and on car windshields.

The snow is mixing with rain showers as it dries up early Wednesday morning. Later Wednesday, temperatures should reach 40 degrees which will melt some of the little snow western Massachusetts had fall overnight.
