Car crashed into a police cruiser in Northampton

The police officer was not injured in the crash

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Several people are in the hospital after a car cashed into a police cruiser in Northampton Sunday morning.

Northampton Police Sgt. Joe Golec told 22News that a police officer was parked on the side of the road near the Calvin Coolidge Bridge conducting a traffic stop just before 2 o’clock Sunday morning, when a third car crashed into the rear end of the cruiser.

The car that hit the cruiser flipped over onto its side during the crash. Several people were injured in the crash and were taken to the hospital. They are all expected to be okay.

According to Sgt. Golec, the police officer was not injured in the crash.

Police are trying to determine what caused the crash. So far, no charges have been filed against the driver.
