AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – UMass Police are warning the university community about a new email phishing scheme. The fake email is sent from payroll services with the subject line “Your Record Updated – IMPORTANT”.

Police are telling recipients to not respond to the message or click the link, because it isn’t actually from the university. They say it is a scheme designed to trick students or faculty into providing personal information. Anyone who’s already responded should immediately change the password to their UMass Amherst IT account.
