WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Westfield City Council voted 8 to 6 Thursday night in favor of prohibiting smoking on all city owned, operated or leased outdoor public places.
On Monday, the Legislative & Ordinance Committee unanimously approved the ban.
Westfield City Councilor Mary O’Connell told 22News that the law could be difficult to enforce; “Once it’s in place, if it becomes a problem, then enforcement, building inspectors, the police department at least have ammunition and then they can prevent it.”
The final vote on this issue will be on December 15th.
