SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man who Springfield police say used a knife to rob the same East Forest Park service station three times, has been caught.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, Nassar K. Thomas, 35, of Springfield is accused of robbing the New World gas station at 527 Allen Street on October 21, October 22, and November 3.

Delaney says that in each case, the suspect used a knife to threaten the clerk inside the convenience store.

Springfield police shared surveillance images from the store, and Delaney says that thanks to tips from the public, the department’s Major Crimes Unit was able to move forward with their investigation; ultimately receiving a warrant for Thomas’s arrest.

“This is a perfect example of how the police, public and press working together and make a difference where the community is now a safer place,” Delaney wrote on the department’s official Facebook page.

Thomas was taken into the custody of detectives on Wednesday evening. He is facing three counts of armed robbery, and will be arraigned in Springfield District Court.
