SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission got a first-hand look at the progress of MGM Springfield’s casino project Thursday morning. The commissioners toured the 14-acre construction site in the South End at 10:30. The tour included the future site of MGM’s “South End Market,” the site of the future casino and hotel, and the First Spiritualist Church, which was moved across the construction site from Bliss Street to its present location on Union Street.
Commissioners were joined by MGM Springfield President Mike Mathis and other company officials.
Following Thursday morning’s tour, the members of the Gaming Commission will hold their regular weekly meeting at the MassMutual Center. Online gaming is one of the topics that is expected to be discussed at the meeting, which begins at 1:00 P.M.
