SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The American Cancer Society needs volunteers to drive patients to doctor’s appointments.
22News spoke Thursday with one man who said that the work is more than satisfying. Paul Kenney of Springfield spends some 20 hours a week driving cancer patients to their appointments. Kenney told 22News that he began volunteering when cancer took the life of his partner.
“There’s a need and I’m here, I can fill that. If they can’t drive, whatever the case may be, I’m here. I even have a next door neighbor next week,” Kenney said.
