Keeping your pets safe from salt this winter season

You can also put booties on your pet to save them from getting cut from sharp ice

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP)  – If you have an outdoor pet you know that salt can be a big issue for their paws.

22News went to A.W. Brown’s Pet & Garden Store in East Longmeadow. We learned about the alternatives to salt you can use around your house that are safer for your pets and other people’s pets.These products are not salt based. They are not only pet friendly but also environmentally and kid friendly as well. Salt can really become an issue for your pets paws.

Sue Morin, who is a buyer at A.W. Brown’s Pet & Garden in East Longmeadow, told 22News, “Its very erosive if your not washing or taking care of their paws it can be an irritate and also its environmentally damaging so you’ll track it into the house there’s all kinds of reasons we use a non salt product.”

To be extra safe you should wipe your pets paws off before they come inside and walk around your house.

You can also put booties or shoes on your pet to prevent them from walking on sharp ice or objects as well.
