Pouring rain and I-91 construction frustrate western Mass. commuters

The rain tapered off a bit later in the evening

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Some drivers had a hard time Tuesday, as fog and pouring rain throughout parts of the day made for a frustrating commute.

Drivers told 22News it was so heavy at times, it was hard to see. As commuters adjusted to this week’s lane changes as I-91 enters a new phase of construction, drivers said the weather made the usual evening traffic even worse.

Geordan Pleasant of Springfield said, “I got out of work at 4:00, and it’s been nothing but traffic since I got out. Everyone’s driving slower than usual, and it’s kind of slowing down the process of commuting to get home from work. It’s been a pain in the butt.”

The rain tapered off a bit later in the evening.
