Police: Springfield store broken into twice in three hours

The break-ins happened at Espanola Grocery on Belmont Avenue

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield store was broken into twice in three hours early Tuesday morning.

Springfield Police Lt. Richard LaBelle told 22News the Espanola Grocery at 455 Belmont Avenue was first broken into shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Later, around 4:30 a.m., LaBelle said two men broke in through the store’s boarded up window that had been broken during the first theft. He said cigarettes were taken both times and store security cameras confirmed the two break-ins were done by different men.
