SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Spirit of Springfield announced on Tuesday that the Bright Nights Military and First Responders Night scheduled for November 30th has been postponed.
According to a news release from the Spirit of Springfield, the special night has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 7th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The postponement is due to the potential for heavy rain.
Bright Nights at Forest Park will still be open on November 30th for visitors, only the Military and First Responder Night has been impacted, the news released stated. The special night “offers free admission to active members of the military as well as police and law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians.”
On December 7th, the news released stated that volunteers from the Springfield Veterans Activities Committee will welcome visitors and verify identifications, and the entrance will be lined with American Flags.
“This is our way of saying thank you to the men and women who protect our freedoms and lives every day,” said Judy Matt, Spirit of Springfield. “The goal is to thank those that our serving our community, our country, and who put their lives in danger on a daily basis.”
On top of the free admission, children will get a ticket for a free Santa Train or carousel ride, or admission to the giant snow globe, which is just outside in Santa’s Magical Forest, the news release stated.
