Agawam unveils the city’s new 2016 ambulance

The Fire Department paid $232,000 for the ambulance

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – The Town of Agawam debuted a brand new ambulance on Tuesday, and named it the Knight of Valor.

The Knight of Valor is a 2016 International Terrastar Titan Ambulance that will replace the Feeding Hills 2010 ambulance, which reached its life span. The old ambulance had over 150,000 miles.

Agawam Fire Chef Alan Sirois told 22News the city responds to over 3,500 emergency calls every year; “This ambulance we anticipate will be in use, frontline, for at least 6 years. With these new larger chassis, we typically run them to about 150,000 miles until we look at replacing them.”

The Fire Department paid $232,000 for the ambulance. Chief Sirois said no tax dollars were used for the purchase; the department used money from insurance billing to cover the cost.
