SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) –  Two suspected dealers were arrested and 360 bags of heroin were recovered by police officers in Springfield Monday morning.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News 19-year-old Anthony Martinez of Springfield and 33-year-old Brian Boduch of Sturbridge were arrested during the bust.

Detectives from the narcotics unit set up surveillance in the area of Spring and Salem Streets around 9:30 Monday morning, which Delaney says was in response to resident complaints about possible drug activity. Delaney said they found Martinez waiting near Salem Street as Boduch pulled up in his car. That’s when Delaney said detectives allegedly saw Boduch purchase 300 bags of heroin from Martinez, and they arrested the two.

Delaney said officers recovered 60 more bags from Martinez’s pockets and $576 in cash between them.

Both men were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of heroin with intent to distribute
  • Violation of a Drug-Free Park Zone

Martinez and Boduch are scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield District Court Tuesday.
