TOLLAND, Mass. (WWLP) – A Freezing Rain Advisory has been issued for parts of western Massachusetts. For the Town of Tolland, it couldn’t have come at a worse time. The town lost nearly $1.5-million in equipment, after a fire destroyed the Department of Public Works garage last Sunday.
Tolland residents told 22News it’s going to take neighboring communities to help them get thru this winter. Kris Sanders said, “Neighboring communities will help out, and maybe somebody from the private sector that has equipment that can help out with snow and stuff like that.”

Under Massachusetts’ Mutual Aid Agreement, Tolland can borrow equipment from neighboring communities. Town Selectman Steve Dellagiustina previously told 22News that Granville, Becket, Huntington, Cummington, and Southwick, have all offered to let the town borrow equipment.
We called Tolland’s Fire and Public Works departments to find out which town will help them salt the roads on Tuesday, if any. We’re still waiting to hear back.
