SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – While you were sleeping, two people were shot outside of the Mardi Gras in Springfield.

Six rounds in total were fired. Both people were taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.
Lt. Labelle told 22News both people are in stable condition. Police are speaking with witnesses and are trying to get statements.
Mayor Domenic Sarno has issued a statement of the recent shooting at Mardi Gras:
“After this early morning shooting and in consultation with Commissioner John Barbieri and Licensing Director Attorney Alesia Days, I have ordered a hearing into the Mardi Gras strip club security procedures. There seems to be a very troubling trend of incidents evolving from the Mardi Gras parking lot area. Once again this incident seems to be gang-related and as I have stated before, these establishments seem to be a haven for gang members. These establishments must be held accountable for properly policing their clientele and property. Even with police on scene, this is how brazen these repeat violent offenders are and need to be dealt with accordingly. If uncooperative, we will issue severe sanctions, all the way up to revocation of all licenses. These establishments, with their questionable clientele, continue to give our Springfield a black eye. Commissioner Barbieri indicates detectives are working leads and are very hopeful of a timely arrest.”
