HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) – Hamden police are investigating an early morning car crash that took the life of a New Haven man.
Officers responding to a report of a crash just before 2 a.m. Friday found a man lying in the road next to his vehicle in the area of Newhall Street and Newbury Street.
The victim, identified as 41-year-old Charles Knight III, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Knight’s vehicle struck a stone wall, and then continued on until it came to a rest against a street sign pole.
The crash remains under investigation and witnesses are being asked to contact investigators.
