NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A parade in the Florence community of Northampton is a tradition that goes back 27 years.
Hundreds were in Florence on Saturday morning to attend the Florence Civic and Business Association holiday parade. It’s something residents look forward to each year.
Bill Brandt of Florence told 22News, “Every year we come down. We’ve been coming down for, I don’t know, 10, 15 years or so. We wouldn’t miss it. I think of it as great small town hallelujah.”
Residents were able to get into the holiday spirit. It was an unofficial kickoff to the holidays here in Hampshire County.
Evelyn Snyder of Florence told 22News, “It’s a time for us to lighten up and get ready for the coming holidays. It’s our neighborhood, we see our friends and neighbors here. My husband and I have been coming here for 17 years.”
The parade marchers included the Northampton mayor and senate president Stan Rosenberg, along with bag pipers, clowns, and of course, a holiday parade is not complete without Santa.
