HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man who pleaded guilty in connection with drug overdoses that killed three people and sent 14 others to the hospital is fighting with federal prosecutors over how much prison time he should get.

Frank Pina argues he should receive no more than four years in prison. Prosecutors are seeking an eight-year prison sentence for the 57-year-old New Haven resident.

A hearing on the sentencing dispute is scheduled for Monday in federal court in Hartford, followed by sentencing on Tuesday.

Pina was one of three men arrested on charges of selling the drugs that caused the overdoses in New Haven in June. The victims thought they were buying cocaine, but the drugs were laced with the powerful opioid fentanyl.

Prosecutors say Pina sold the drugs days after overdosing himself.
