SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Parade of the Big Balloons is not the only festive holiday event going on in downtown Springfield Friday. The Quadrangle will be aglow with holiday lights Friday evening.

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno will “flip the switch” on the lighting display at 5:00 P.M.

After the lights come on, there will be train rides, free hot cider and cookies, musical performances, and visits from Santa Claus and the Grinch!

The event is free and open to the public, and runs from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday evening.
