GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Black Friday’s crowds didn’t just benefit the major retailers, but local businesses as well. Many shoppers came through Wilson’s Department Store in Greenfield to take advantage of all the Black Friday deals.
Friday, Wilson’s opened an hour early, at 9:00 A.M. They featured 10 doorbusters on Black Friday, as well as discounts on several lines of clothing.
It was busy with shoppers throughout the day, but comparable to previous years.
Like other Massachusetts retailers, they were closed on Thanksgiving, but they’re expecting a high number of customers to continue into Small Business Saturday.
“No matter what is happening in the world, no matter what’s happening with the economy, people still want to celebrate the holidays and buy gifts for the holidays, no matter what,” said Tamara Beauregard, Vice President of Wilson’s Department Store.
Beauregard said that they will offer different deals for Small Business Saturday, including sales on cookwear, clothes, and comforters.
Wilson’s has been in business for 135 years, and is family-owned and managed.
Beauregard told 22News that they are expecting the two days before Christmas to be the busiest shopping period of the year at the store.
