ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – Many Massachusetts residents will be crossing the border into Connecticut to get their Black Friday shopping fix.
Massachusetts Blue Laws require retail stores to be closed on Thanksgiving, but that’s not the case in Connecticut.
It’s a short distance for shoppers who want to drive across the state line to Enfield to begin their shopping early.
One Black Friday shopper told 22News he wishes Massachusetts would allow stores to open early.
“Yeah it’d be an inconvenience to have to drive to a different state, so in the future, that’d be nice if they changed that law,” said Devin Bengle of Springfield.
The Blue Laws also prohibit shopping in Massachusetts on Christmas, Veterans’ Day and Columbus Day.
