Arsonist caused house fire in Springfield’s Six Corners neighborhood

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A fire at a vacant house in Springfield’s Maple High-Six Corners neighborhood Thursday morning has been determined to be an act of arson.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that firefighters were called to 66/68 Clifton Avenue shortly before 7:30 Thursday morning. State troopers assigned to the state fire marshal’s office were also called in.

Leger said that no one was living in the home, and no injuries were reported.

He told 22News that the Springfield Police Arson and Bomb Squad determined that the fire, which started in the basement, had been set. Anyone with any information is asked to call (413) 787-6370 or you can anonymously “text a tip” if you saw anything suspicious.
