SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The thanksgiving celebration begins the night before. Thanksgiving Eve is often referred to as “blackout Wednesday” and the management here at Luxe makes sure their bar customers stay safe.
“The day before Thanksgiving is the best day for bartenders”
While some people are at home preparing for the big Thanksgiving meal, others have already started celebrating by meeting old friends for a drink.
Beth Halloran, Manager at Luxe Burger Bar told 22News, “Traditionally in the restaurant business thanksgiving eve brings in a huge bar business, people get together they like to go out and have fun”
In anticipation of the extra people many bartenders told 22News they are going to take extra safety precautions and be more vigilant.
Susan Booker, Bartender at Luxe Burger Bar said, “I like to see how they are when they first come in to see if they’ve been drinking before but typically if people start off quiet and then get loud, heightened voices, flushed faces those are usually the signs I look for.”
Halloran told 22News Luxe Burger Bar takes safety very seriously and makes sure bartenders are hydrating patrons with water and coffee in addition to their drinks.
Halloran also told 22News they post local cab numbers for anyone who’s had too much to drink.
