SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Rescue Mission is expected to feed hundreds of people Wednesday who might not otherwise have a Thanksgiving meal.
The Rescue mission is scheduled to serve three Thanksgiving meals Wednesday at 10 Mill Street in Springfield.
The first meal will be a Thanksgiving breakfast held at 7:00 a.m. Volunteers will then be delivering Thanksgiving meals to the disabled and the elderly at 11:00 a.m. The last meal of the day will be a Thanksgiving dinner from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. By the end of the day, the Rescue Mission expects to have served 650 meals.
The Rescue Mission also expects to serve more than 20,000 meals this holiday season. If you would like to volunteer for an event, click here.
In 2015, the Springfield Rescue Mission reports they served 89,209 meals and provided 21,470 shelter beds and 40,357 items of clothing.
