Greenfield hoping for large turnout on Small Business Saturday

This will be the sixth year Greenfield participates in Small Business Saturday

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Black Friday marks the start of the holiday shopping season. But one local mayor is hoping that after hitting the mall on Friday, more people will shop small the following day.

American Express created “Small Business Saturday” six years ago to encourage people to spend their money at small businesses across the nation. Mom and pop stores play a huge role in the community by boosting both the economy and jobs for residents.

Greenfield Mayor William Martin told 22 News local shops are a great place to find unique gifts for the holidays. “We’re hoping that people will continue to support their local business, the businesses that employ local people and provide products for our local residents.”

This is the sixth year the City of Greenfield is participating in Small Business Saturday.
