Firefighters put out basement fire in Northampton

No one was hurt

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Northampton Firefighters put out a basement fire that started around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Northampton Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Norris told 22News the fire happened at 31 Oak Street and was contained to the basement before causing any other damage.

The owner of the home told 22News two people live there and were able to get out without any injuries.

Firefighters are working on finding out what caused the fire.
