SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds of homeless and lonely men and women enjoyed Thanksgiving holiday meals at the Springfield Rescue Mission’s new home on Mill Street Wednesday.
An estimated 850 people enjoyed breakfast and turkey dinner.
The Rescue Mission’s 50-year home on Bliss Street was demolished to make way for the MGM casino project.
The folks at the Rescue Mission Wednesday were grateful for the opportunity to share a meal together.
“It’s a blessing, it’s a blessing to share Thanksgiving dinner with God,” Mary Carroll of Springfield said.
On Thanksgiving Day, hundreds of homeless men and women are expected for the Open Pantry Community Services dinner at the High School of Commerce in Springfield.
