328 acres of open land to be protected in Northampton

90-percent of the funding is currently covered by grants, the community preservation act, and donors

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Northampton’s Planning & Sustainability department is asking the community to help conserve the city’s open land.

The city is working to protect these locations of open land. They make up 328 acres of conservation land. The city has to raise 1-point-5 million dollars to fund its protection, and still needs to raise 150-thousand dollars to reach that goal.

Ken Hassing, of Northampton told 22News, “In this town I think they’re pretty good about land conservation, but there could always be more.”

90-percent of the funding is currently covered by grants, the community preservation act, and donors.
