Local nonprofit holds early Thanksgiving dinner for veterans

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Some local veterans and their families were treated to a traditional Thanksgiving meal a few days early. Springfield Partners for Community Action hosted a luncheon at their facilty on State Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Vietnam War vet Theodore Perry told 22News why he was grateful for the meal. “I haven’t had a veterans meal since my days back in the mid 60s at Fort Bend in Georgia,” he said. “It’s just good to be here and see a lot of the people that made it. A lot of them did not make it, so it’s good to be here.”

Springfield Partners also offers a veterans services program that helps connect vets with resources like health care, education, housing and employment opportunities.
