HANCOCK, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s the first sign of ski season! Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock opens on Friday.
22News talked to the President of Jiminy Peak, Tyler Fairbank, and he said the large amount of snowfall couldn’t have come at a better time.
While the resort doesn’t open until Friday, the snow in the Berkshires over the last two days was perfectly timed.
Workers from the resort were up on the slopes making snow Tuesday, taking advantage of the cold temperatures and the fresh powder.
The blend of natural snow and freshly made snow makes for a great start to the ski season.
“Could not have been much better, sort of a jackpot for us, top of the mountain saw 20 plus inches of snow this time of the year is fantastic helps us to make snow blend natural snow in, it will give us a super solid base from the get go,” said Fairbank.
Fairbank went on to tell us they saw more snow from this past storm than all of last season.
22News also talked to many people in the Berkshires who are just excited for the ski season to start.
