Westfield DPW says water pressure should be restored by Thanksgiving

Westfield State University students are asked not to do laundry on campus.

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Westfield City Officials met Monday with Westfield State University to address the lack of water pressure on campus.

Westfield DPW Director David Billips told 22News full water pressure should be restored by Thanksgiving.

The problem follows the closure of two contaminated wells, the Granville Reservoir going off-line, and last week’s water main break.

Students were asked to leave campus by Sunday night, but athletes who stayed behind said they have enough water.

“The showers and stuff in my dorm is normal and usual. I’ve noticed it takes a little longer for the showers to warm up, but that’s about it,” said Westfield State University student Cayla Durkee.

The University is asking students to not do laundry on campus.

Director Billips said they might have to put the reservoir back online to restore water pressure in time for Thanksgiving.
