SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man charged with shooting and killing a dog during an argument on Friday will remain in jail for now, but is due back in court again on Tuesday.

Edwin Harrison, 37, of Springfield, is charged with killing a domestic animal and resisting arrest, and also faces several gun charges following the incident on Fort Pleasant Avenue. Additionally, he is accused of having 46 bags of heroin, crack, and powder cocaine on him at the time of his arrest.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Harrison and another man began arguing at around 4:00 that afternoon. At some point, shots were fired, and a Jack Russell terrier mix was killed.

Harrison was in Springfield District Court for an arraignment on Monday afternoon. He was ordered held without the right to bail, but there will be another hearing on Tuesday to analyze his competence.
