Low gas prices ahead of busy Thanksgiving travel period

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel periods of the year

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Gas prices in Massachusetts slipped a little lower ahead of what’s expected to be a very busy Thanksgiving travel period.

AAA Northeast says the average price of a gallon of unleaded gas is $2.08, down $.04 a gallon from last week. We saw some gas going for as low as $1.95.

For some, those pennies add up, but for others are resigned to paying for gas no matter the cost.

“I still have to go to work, and I still have to go shopping. I’m still going to do what I’m going to do regardless,” said Nancy Stebbins of Westfield.

AAA estimates close to 950,000 Massachusetts residents will drive to Thanksgiving destinations, a 5 percent increase over last year.
