LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a very special birthday celebration this past Wednesday at the Leavitt Family Jewish Home in Longmeadow. Mary Sotiropoulos Theocles celebrated her 100th birthday, surrounded by family, friends, and even public officials.

Theocles, whose actual birthday was Friday, has been a resident of the Leavitt Family Jewish Home since 2012. She was born in New York City back in 1916, and moved to greater Springfield as a young child. She was married to the late Andrew Theocles for 54 years, and raised four children. She also has seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

At Wednesday’s party, State Rep. Brian Ashe (D-Longmeadow) presented the family with a citation recognizing her personal milestone, and Theocles cut a big cake, that was shared among the numerous guests.
