The stabbing happened around 10:00 p.m. Saturday.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man died Saturday after he was stabbed at a downtown Springfield parking garage.

Springfield Police Captain Cheryl Claprood told 22News, they’ve arrested 29-year-old Anthony Casiano of Springfield on a charge of murder. The victim was a 26-year-old man from Wilbraham.

Springfield Police Lt. Richard LaBelle told 22News, police were called to the intersection of Dwight Street and Hillman Street around 10:00 p.m. Saturday night after a fight allegedly led to a stabbing.

When our 22News crews first got there, police were putting up caution tape on the top floor of the parking structure.

Police were at the parking garage for hours Saturday night investigating the incident. Police believe the fight started over cars, which led to the stabbing.

Casiano is scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday. This is the 12th homicide in Springfield this year.
