SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is scheduled to hold a meeting Thursday night regarding the I-91 Rehabilitation Project.
MassDOT will update drivers on the progress of the project as well as what’s coming next– Phase two.
The second phase is going to cause lane changes on the elevated portion of I-91. With the phase change, traffic will be shifted to the inner lanes of the highway, as crews move their work to the outer lanes.
MassDOT is also scheduled to implement a new electronic system, the Dynamic Merge System, to help ease traffic going through the construction sites. Electronic signs will be in place to help direct drivers through the construction zone. These signs will be able to monitor traffic through a computer system, and tell drivers the best route to take.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held at 1 Financial Plaza in Springfield at 6:30 P.M.
MassDOT will be answering any questions and addressing any concerns anyone may have.
