South Hadley bank robbed; police looking for help to find suspect

Suspect did not show a weapon during the hold-up

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – South Hadley police are looking for a suspect following a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon.

South Hadley Police Chief Steve Parentela told 22News that they received a call about a robbery at the PeoplesBank on Newton Street at 4:03 P.M. Parentela said that the suspect did not show a weapon during the robbery, and was last seen running off toward Dayton Street.

Police got to the bank quickly, as there was a patrol car at the shopping plaza right across the street at the time, but the suspect was nowhere to be found by then.

The suspect is described as a white man between 5’0” and 5’6”. He was dressed in all blue clothing at the time of the robbery.

South Hadley police detectives are still looking into the case. Surveillance footage and additional details about are not being released at this time.

Parentela said that if anyone saw anything suspicious in the Newton Street or Dayton Street areas, they should call South Hadley Police at (413) 538-8231.
