Springfield Police: Man was shot in the chest

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police were investigating a shooting on George Street, Wednesday night, after one person was shot.

Springfield Police Captain Robert Strzempek told 22News a man was found lying on George Street with a bullet wound to the chest around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. He said the victim was expected to be okay, and was talking with police at the hospital.

When 22News arrived on George Street, police cruisers were blocking the street while officers investigated the area. Captain Strempek said neighbors reported hearing five or six shots.
