Boat fell off trailer, closing lanes of I-91 in Connecticut

Accident took place near Exit 10 in North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Part of I-91 is closed in North Haven, Connecticut after a boat fell off a trailer and on to the highway Wednesday morning.

According to the the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the left lanes of both sides of I-91 are closed between Exits 10 and 9 after the accident was reported around 10:07 a.m.

Troopers tell 22News’ sister station News 8 that a Toyota 4 Runner was pulling a boat when it fell off of the trailer and on to the median near Exit 10 on the northbound side. Police say the boat is not in the roadway and that the North Haven fire department responded to the scene.

No one was injured in the accident. There is no word on when the highway is expected to reopen at this time . Police ask drivers to slow down and move over while the crews work.
