26 miles and a shopping cart
Thursday, November 21st & 22nd
Beginning at 6:30AM
About the Event:
Every November since 2010, WRSI-The River’s Monte Belmonte has been leading his annual march against hunger. The telethon encourages his listeners to call in with their donations to benefit The Food Bank as he walks through Western Massachusetts pushing a shopping cart, accompanied by politicians, community leaders and supporters.
Last year he decided to add a second day, extending his route by 17 miles and raising a record $150,000 for The Food Bank (the equivalent of 450,000 meals). Since his first march in 2010, Monte’s March has raised a total of $393,000.
This year, he will once again be joined by Congressman Jim McGovern and The Food Bank’s Executive Director Andrew Morehouse, as they walk 43 miles to end hunger. Your support can help this year’s march be the most successful one to date!
