Firefighters battle blaze at abandoned hospital building

There were no reports of injuries

BELMONT, Mass. (AP) — Firefighters from several towns are battling a large blaze in an abandoned building at a Belmont hospital.

The fire on the campus of McLean Hospital was spotted at about 2:40 a.m. Monday by a police officer on patrol who smelled smoke.

Police say the three story brick and wood building was abandoned and has not been used by the psychiatric hospital for about 10 years.

There were no reports of injuries.

Firefighters from Cambridge, Watertown, and Arlington also responded to the scene.
