CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Delivery of the first of the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots donations to the 22News lobby will start on November 28th.
The preparations start with fundraising events. l Saturday’s baseball tournament in the eastern Hampden county town of Palmer will buy some of the toys, games and bikes that will fill the 22News lobby very soon. Concerned men and women helped raised that money Saturday to purchase those toys for tots.
Crystal Wilkinson, of Turner Falls told 22News, “Because it’s important, kids need gifts during the holidays, a lot of families unfortunately have hard times a lot of kids don’t have the opportunity to get these gifts.”
Players came from all over western Massachusetts for this fundraiser with one thing in mind to buy the gifts they’ll bring to the 22News lobby from November 28th through December 12th.
David Bracey, of Springfield said, “Looks like a couple of thousand dollars right now, we’ll get some raffle prizes hopefully 22-24 hundred something like that.”
Which will help buy the bikes, the toys and the games for the thousands of needy children here in western Massachusetts.
Correy Truyz, of Amherst said, “I think it’s terribly important cause to celebrate. Especially those kids that don’t have it’s a great chance to give back and bring that to everyone.”
The 20th anniversary Toys for Tots season will soon begin. Starting on November 28th, we’ll welcome you into the 22News lobby and personally thank you for helping make this a special Christmas holiday for children who deserve your kindness.
