ANAHEIM, Cali. (CNN) – A little boy is out of the hospital after he was attacked by dogs. His mother tried to save him but was also attacked.

The incident was captured on surveillance cameras in Anaheim, California. Security cameras capture two large dogs viciously attacking a two-year-old boy and his mother outside their Anaheim home Tuesday.

The boy is on the ground. His mother races to help but they go after her too. She grabs her son and makes a run for the front door, but she can’t find her keys.

The boy’s father Spenser Bishop was at work.

“It was just a constant battle for five to seven minutes of just terror,” said Bishop.

Helpless, she shields her baby as the dogs continue to bite.

“She was screaming and yelling for help. And luckily we had two neighbors, one young lady came over with a stick to try to prod them off,” said Bishop.

Finally, neighbors were able to fight the dogs off. The family believes they were in a neighbor’s yard and somehow got loose. They’ve since hired an attorney.

Richard Patterson, the family attorney said, “We will determine the history of these dogs to see if there’s additional responsibility from the criminal aspects that should be applied to this case.”

His son was taken to the hospital and has since been released. He’s recovering from extensive injuries.

“He has a big laceration in his face and his leg. He’s had to have multiple stitches. He had plastic surgery on his face. There’s no words to explain how you feel unless you have a child and see your child go through something like that, or your wife,” said Bishop.

Neighbors held the dogs after the attack until animal control officers came and took them away.
