WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – One of western Massachusetts oldest cemeteries was a model of Veterans Day respect.
At the East Wilbraham cemetery, flags had been placed at each veterans headstones, some of which dated back to the revolutionary war. Eagle Scouts had made certain all these veterans would be honored and remembered in this vintage hallowed ground dating back to 1779.
Robert Russell of the Wilbraham Select Board told 22News, “To look around and see the flags of the men and women who sacrificed for our country, they all took an oath an oath that makes them committed to something bigger than themselves we’re very proud of that and very proud of the way that’s remembered and taken care of over the years.”
In preparation for Veterans Day, Wilbraham Eagle Scouts cleaned and repaired headstones that dated back to the 18th century.
